Hello.
My name is Hope.
And I’ve been waiting for a while.
It started out small,
Like a ripple in the water
That turns into a hurricane.
Then more droplets came,
Drowning me in a torrent of Misery.
But, being Hope, I simply got back up again.
Then it began once more,
Like a tiny flicker,
A single spark hidden in the grass.
Then the flames rose,
And engulfed me in Dismay.
But, being Hope, I stood up and shrugged.
Then it came a third time,
Like a pebble rolling down a mountain,
Collecting other pebbles
And other rocks,
Until an avalanche of boulders
Crushed me in Disappointment.
But again, I am Hope, so I got up and walked on.
Anger and Resentment appeared,
Distant foes come to dissuade me,

To tell me I could not win,
That neither Happiness nor Success
Would ever show me their faces.
But though they tried to stop me in Fear,
I remembered that I was Hope,
So I ignored them and kept going.
The way is tough, the road is long,
I seem to be alone in my journey, and yet;
Hello again.
My name is Hope.
And I’ve been waiting for a while.
