Quiet Battle

Bitterness, anger. Two people, once friends. Resentment, fury. Unseen sparks fly, without words. Eyes meet and narrow. Fists clench, a challenge. The silence is deafening. One turns away, And it’s over before it began.

Write Me Into the Sky

Write me into the sky, she said, Bury me in the clouds. Keep my soul safe from the Earth, And its monsters who bring me down. Sing me into the stars, she said, Please don’t let me fade, Paint me onto the canvas of the moon, And I’ll never die away.

Living in the Moment Now

Music is playing in my head, like a theme song. I know I’m awake but not alive. Listening but not hearing. Memories flow like a stream of water down my face, Like laughter. Like tears. People talk to me; do I hear them? Do I even know I’m alive? I remember the swing when I … Continue reading Living in the Moment Now

No Right Answer

Hold my hand, I said, And the world in all its greatness, Mistook my plea For an open invitation. Help me up, I said, And my path was suddenly there, Laid out at my humble feet. Every stone in place, The finish line was specific And daunting. There were no cracks nor curves, But in … Continue reading No Right Answer

Sweet Again

I used to laugh and play and love, So young and free and wild. I used to live my life without caring,  About the world’s mysteries, I used to know almost nothing, About its bloody history. Hello. My name is Hope. And I’ve been waiting for a while. It started out small, Like a ripple in the water That turns into a hurricane. Then more droplets came, Drowning me in a torrent of Misery. But, being Hope, I simply got back up again. Then it began once more, Like a tiny … Continue reading In the Name of Hope

The Blank Page

The blank white page is taunting. It is flawless, pristine, unscarred. It mocks me openly, saying, “You have no talent. If you did, then it would be displayed on this paper.” Everything about it is perfect. It doesn’t wish to be disturbed; But still it is taunting, A silent, open canvas. So I take my … Continue reading The Blank Page

Strive to Understand

“When did the world become so black and white?” they ask. Not knowing that is how it has always been. There has always been a division of color, But only one side has felt the effects, And the other – doesn’t believe it exists. How do we learn to change our ways? Not with silence, … Continue reading Strive to Understand

Candle in My Darkness

One smile prompts another. Laughter follows. A face lit up with joy, Soft eyes full of affection. He is gentle, he is kind. A crying shoulder, A helping hand. A candle in my darkness. Songs of delight Dedicated to a grateful heart.

How to Be Human

Smile at strangers And share your experience; Reflect on the past But don’t build up fences. Listen to nature, But don’t let it control you; Appreciate people And let them console you. See colors and shapes As they are, unconcealed; Learn what you can, And love what you feel. Spend time out alone, Just thinking … Continue reading How to Be Human
